Custom Computer Building

We’ve all seen ads everywhere for custom computers or “dollar a day” computers.  Lured by the tantalizing price, we don’t stop to think about what it is that we’re getting for our money.  At Northern Protocol Inc. we focus on computer repair, so every day we see first hand what goes into the box.  Quite often it’s not pretty.

In order to get the cheap price, very poor quality components are utilized and the “custom computers” end up being hastily thrown together, often in sloppy fashion.  The end result?  Poor airflow, dramatically shortening the life of the components.  Unfortunately, especially with cheap computer builds, when the parts fail it can be more costly than it’s worth to repair the computer.

With our focus on building quality custom computers that last, special attention is paid to the parts and build quality of every computer we design and build.  When you buy a custom computer from Northern Protocol Inc., you’re buying reliability.

The computer components, ready to be assembled

Placing the RAM (Random Access Memory) modules into their sockets on the motherboard.

Connecting the wires for the power button, lights, internal speaker and reset switch on the motherboard.

Routing the hard drive cable.

The finished product, with all the wires fastened and tucked away

It's now time to install Windows and test the build. With all the wires neatly hidden, fastened and tucked away there will be much better air flow through the computer. Air flow is very important to keep the inside of the computer cool. Heat is the number one killer of hard drives, motherboards, power supplies and other sensitive electronic components.
