| Did you know? The motherboard provides the path (or BUS) upon which all the
data travels back and forth between the various components in the system. Much care must
be placed in deciding which motherboard and which manufacturer to choose from. We
have carefully chosen a few manufacturers to present here, although we offer several other
alternatives, including DFI.
Several options need to be considered, such
as the use for the system. If the system is to be used in a gaming environment, we
do not recommend motherboards without expansion slots for video cards
(such as one or more PCI-e slots). Solutions
that only have onboard graphics should be relegated to office duties such as home office or workstation environments.
Motherboards can be selective which
configurations they prefer, so talk to us about your operating environment and choices of
supporting hardware before placing your order. Some components may very well not
work well with others, offering much grief. For example, a
motherboard that supports Crossfire (ATi) will not support SLI (nVIDIA)
configurations.
One further concept to consider is called
"future proofing" your purchase. Although this is very difficult to do in
today's ever changing market, it can be done with a reasonable amount of due diligence and
can realize a certain amount of success. Consult us first for the latest trends in
computer design and manufacturing before making your next purchase. |
