Is Facebook watching me?

We often send emails back and forth to each other at the office when we’re preparing quotes, discussing client feedback, responding to client inquiries, product logistics, etc.  Today we’ve been collaborating on preparing a quote for a system to use with the Oculus Rift virtual reality system.

No problem, one would think.  As I’m giving feedback on the configuration to the techs through email I have my Facebook open on the other screen.  What pops up in my feed?  An advertisement for Oculus Rift.

I use Microsoft Outlook as my email client.  I use the Google Chrome web browser.  How on earth did Facebook know that I was conversing about the Oculus Rift?  I didn’t mention it on Facebook.  Is Facebook monitoring my email communications?  Is it a coincidence?  I don’t believe in coincidence…but you be the judge.
